IPL 2015: SRH V CSK

Yesterday’s second match was a high-scoring match. The match was played at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Hyderabad.

Chennai Super Kings innings won the toss and chose to bowl first. Sunrisers Hyderabad innings had a very good start. Sunrisers Hyderabad innings was comfortably placed at 86 for 0 in 8 overs. The 86 run-stand between Warner & Dhawan in 49 balls increased the run-rate. This was the highest partnership in Sunrisers Hyderabad innings. This was Hyderabad’s 2nd highest 1st wicket partnership at this ground in IPL behind 100 runs by same pair against Royal Challengers Bangalore last year. Warner scored a brisk 61 off 28 balls & crushed  Chennai bowlers. This was the highest score in Sunrisers innings. This made Warner the leading run scorer in IPL 2015. This was Warner’s 2nd highest score against Chennai Super Kings in IPL behind 90 runs also for Sunrisers Hyderabad at Ranchi last year. Dhawan scored a huge 37 off 32 balls & tried to pace the innings. They lost 3 wickets for 45 runs in the span of 5 overs. Sunrisers Hyderabad innings was steady at 156 for 3 in 16 overs. The 25 run-stand between Morgan & Naman Ojha in 19 balls was not crucial. Morgan scored a quickfire 32 off 27 balls & tried to attack the Chennai bowlers. McCullum dropped Morgan at the final stages of Sunrisers Hyderabad innings when Morgan was on 30 runs. It was not a costly miss as Morgan could score only 32 runs. They lost last 4 wickets for 36 runs in the span of 4 overs & the situation changed after that. The run rate was very high in first 10 overs but slowed a bit in next 10 overs. Dwayne Bravo bowled a lethal spell & took 3 crucial wickets in the innings. This made Bravo the leading wicket taker in IPL 2015. Sunrisers Hyderabad ininngs final total was 192 for 7 in 20 overs. This was Hyderabad’s 2nd highest total at this ground in IPL behind 205 runs against Kings XI Punjab in 2014.

Although they lost McCullum early in 2nd over of the innings, Chennai Super Kings innings had a solid start. The 34 run-stand between Dwayne Smith & Raina in 20 balls was important. They lost 2 wickets Dwayne Smith & Raina in quick succession. Praveen Kumar dropped & missed a run-out of du Plessis at the middle stages of Chennai Super Kings innings when du Plessis was on 18 runs. It was a bit costly miss as du Plessis went on to score 33 runs. du Plessis scored a brilliant 33 off 22 balls & tried to hammer the Chennai bowlers. This was the highest score in Chennai innings. This was du Plessis’ highest score in IPL 2015 till yesterday beating 29 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders at Chennai on April 28. Chennai Super Kings innings was boom boom at 114 for 3 in 12.3 overs. The 46 run-stand between du Plessis & Dhoni in 30 balls was much responsible for Chennai Super Kings innings revival. This was the highest partnership in Chennai Super Kings innings. They lost last 3 wickets for 27 runs in the span of 4 overs & also the situation changed after that. They started quick in first 10 overs & also quick in later overs. Henriques took 2 wickets for 20 runs & Hyderabad won comfortably. Chennai Super Kings innings final total was 170 for 6 in 20 overs. Praveen Kumar bowled the last over. Hyderabad won the match by 22 runs. This was Hyderabad’s 2nd consecutive win & happened 1st time in IPL 2015.

Now, Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on 4th May. Chennai Super Kings will face Royal Challengers Bangalore at MA Chidambaram Stadium also on 4th May.

At another place England first innings was bowled out at 257 runs. Cook ended 2 years run drought with a century. Cook went on to score 105 runs. This was Cook 26th test century. West Indies first innings  was also bowled out at 189 runs. Anderson took 6 wickets for 40 runs in the innings. This was Anderson’s 22nd 5+ wicket haul. England second innings  was 39 for 5. 18 wickets had fallen on second day & happened first time at Barbados.
