IPL 2016: KXIP V SRH

Sorry for not writing for last match. Yesterday’s first match was an exciting match. The match was played at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. This was the Punjab’s last match to be played at this ground.

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and chose to bat first. Punjab start was average. The 33-run stand between Vijay and Hashim Amla in 26 balls started very well. They lost Vijay early in 5th over of the innings. Vijay was caught by David Warner off Mustafizur Rahman’s 1st over. Hashim Amla hit a boundary off Nehra’s 2nd ball. Nehra often too many balls in his first 2 overs. Hashim Amla hit a four and six off Karn Sharma’s 1st over. Punjab was comfortably placed at 87 for 1 in 11 overs. The 54-run stand between Hashim Amla and Wriddhiman Saha in 41 balls increased the run-rate. They lost Wriddhiman Saha in first ball of 12th over of the innings. Wriddhiman Saha was caught by Deepak Hooda off Henriques 2nd over. At one stage Punjab will cross the 200-run mark and Punjab was also comfortably placed at 152 for 2 in 17.1 overs. The 65-run stand between Hashim Amla and Gukeerat Singh Mann in 37 balls was the highest. They lost Gukeerat Singh Mann in 18th over of the innings. Gukeerat Singh Mann was bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in his 3rd over. Nehra suffered a leg injury in his penultimate ball of 3rd over. Ben Cutting bowled the final ball of 19th over after Nehra’s injury. Hashim Amla scored a brilliant 96 off 56 balls and destroyed the Hyderabad bowlers. This was his 1st fifty in IPL career and overall 17th fifty on his T20 career. This was his highest IPL score against his previous highest off 21 runs vs Royal Challengers Bangalore at same ground few days ago. This was his second highest T20 score behind 97 runs for South Africa vs Australia at Cape Town earlier this year. This was the highest score by Punjab batsman in this season against the previous highest off 89 runs by Vijay against Royal Challengers Bangalore also at Mohali. This was the highest score by batsman in this match. They lost Hashim Amla in last over of the innings. Hashim Amla was caught by David Warner off Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s final over. Punjab posted a competitive total of 179 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the most successful bowler for Hyderabad when he took 2 wickets.

Hyderabad start was good. The 68-run stand between David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan in 48 balls was the highest. This was the third highest 1st wicket partnership for Hyderabad in this season. They lost Shikhar Dhawan in last ball of 8th over of the innings. Shikhar Dhawan was run out by a direct throw by Mohit Sharma. David Warner hit 2 sixes off Mohit Sharma’s 2nd over. Hyderabad was comfortably placed at 97 for 1 in 12 overs. Warner scored a fine 52 off 41 balls and hammered the Punjab bowlers. This was his 6th fifty of the season and overall 29th fifty of his IPL career. This was the second most fifties by batsman in IPL history behind Gambhir with 30 fifties. This was the highest score by batsman in this innings. They lost David Warner in first ball of 13th over of the innings. David Warner was hit wicket by Axar Patel in his 2nd over. They hit a four and six off Axar Patel’s same over. Yuvraj Singh hit a six off Mohit Sharma’s 3rd over. They scored 10 runs apiece in next 3 overs. Hyderabad was also comfortably placed at 139 for 2 in 15.5 overs and it looked Hyderabad will win the match. Deepak Hooda scored a classy 34 off 22 balls and attacked the Punjab bowling. The 42-run stand between Deepak Hooda and Yuvraj Singh in 23 balls increased the run-rate. They lost Deepak Hooda in last ball of 16th over of the innings. Deepak Hooda was caught by David Miller off Sandeep Sharma’s 3rd over. Yuvraj Singh hit a  six and 2 consecutive fours off Axar Patel’s last over. Ben Cutting hit a six and equation was down to 20 off 12 balls. Maxwell conceded 11 runs in 19th over of the innings. Yuvraj Singh hit a six off Mohit Sharma’s final over. Yuvraj Singh scored a quickfire 42 off 24 balls and smashed the Punjab bowling. The 41-run stand between Yuvraj Singh and Ben Cutting in 22 balls remained unbeaten. Yuvraj Singh took a winning run and Hyderabad won comfortably. Axar Patel and Sandeep Sharma took 1 wicket each for Hyderabad. Hyderabad won the match by 7 wickets. This was Hyderabad’s 8th win in IPL 2016. This win meant Hyderabad became the first team to make it to playoffs. Punjab are the second team to knock out of the IPL 2016 after Pune.

Now, Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Delhi Daredevils on May 20. Kings XI Punjab will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 18.

Yesterday’s first match was an one-sided match. The match was played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Gujarat Lions won the toss and chose to bowl first. Bangalore start was not good. Kohli hit  a first boundary off Praveen Kumar’s 2nd over. They lost Gayle early in penultimate ball of 4th over of the innings. Gayle was bowled by Dhawal Kulkarni in his 2nd over. Gayle continued their poor form since the century against England in World T20.  Kohli hit a four and de Villiers hit a six off Shivil Kaushik’s 1st over.  They hit a four and six off Tambe’s 1st over. Gujarat bowlers conceded 23 runs in 2 overs. Kohli hit a long-on six off Dhawal Kulkarni’s next over. de Villiers hit another six off Dhawal Kulkarni’s same over. Dhawal Kulkarni conceded 22 runs in 12th over of the innings.  He hit 2 consecutive fours in consecutive balls off Pravin Tambe’s 2nd over. Bangalore crossed 100-run mark in 12th over of the innings. de Villiers hit 2 sixes off Tambe’s 3rd over. He was dropped by Praveen Kumar in middle stages of the innings when he was on 67 runs. It was a costly miss as he went on to score 62 more runs. He hit 3 fours off Praveen Kumar’s 3rd over. Praveen Kumar gave 23 runs in 16th over of the innings. They hit a six off Dwayne Bravo’s final over. de Villiers hit 3 sixes off Shivil Kaushik’s final over. They conceded 30 runs apiece in 18th and 19th over of the innings. Bangalore was comfortably placed at 248 for 1 in 19.4 overs. Kohli scored a fine 109 off 55 balls and destroyed the Pune bowlers. This was his 3rd century of the season and also overall 3rd century in his IPL career. This was his highest score in his IPL career against his previous highest off 108 runs vs Rising Pune Supergiants at Bengaluru last week. This was the highest score by batsman in this season against the previous highest off 108 runs each by de Kock and Kohli vs Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rising Pune Supergiants at same ground respectively. He was the first batsman to score 3 centuries in an IPL season. The 229-run stand between Kohli and de Villiers in 96 balls was the highest. This was the highest 2nd wicket partnership by team in IPL history against their previous highest off 215 runs by same pair also for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Mumbai Indians at Mumbai last year. Kohli was caught by Dwayne Bravo off Praveen Kumar’s last over. At one stage Bangalore will cross 250-run mark as they lost 2 wickets in last 2 balls and Gujarat will make a comeback. de Villiers scored a brilliant 129 off 52 balls and hammered the Gujarat bowlers. This was his 1st century of the season and overall 3rd century in his IPL career. This was his second highest score in his IPL career behind 133 runs against Mumbai Indians at Mumbai last week. This was the highest score by batsman in this match. This was the second time a batsman scored 2 centuries in same innings in T20 matches and first in IPL history.  Bangalore posted a very competitive total of 248 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. This was second highest total in IPL matches behind 263 runs also for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors also at Bangalore in 2013. Praveen Kumar was the most successful bowler for Gujarat when he took 2 wickets including 2 wickets in last 2 balls.

Gujarat start was not good. They lost Dwayne Smith early in penultimate ball of 2nd over of the innings. Dwayne Smith was bowled by Aravind in his 1st over. Gujarat was comfortably placed at 37 for 1 in 4.5 overs. The 28-run stand between Brendon McCullum and Ravindra Jadeja in 19 balls paced the Gujarat innings. It was a turning point as they lost 6 more wickets for 37 runs in the span of 8 overs and Bangalore made a comeback. Gujarat was reduced to 74 for 8 in 12.5 overs and it looked Bangalore will win the match by huge margin. Chahal took 3 wickets for 19 runs in the quota of 4 overs. Gujarat was weakly placed at 104 for 8 in 18.2 overs. Aaron Finch scored a classy 37 off 38 balls and attacked the Bangalore bowling. This was the highest score by batsman in this innings. Finch was caught by Aravind off Stuart Binny’s only over. They lost last 2 wickets in 2 consecutive balls of the innings. Aravind took the winning catch and Bangalore won comfortably. Chris Jordan was the most successful bowler for Bangalore when he took 4 wickets. Bangalore won the match by 144 runs. This was the biggest win by runs by team in IPL matches against their previous biggest off 140 runs for Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore also at Bengaluru in very first IPL match in 2008. This was Bangalore’s 5th win in IPL 2016. Both teams are chance to make playoffs if they win remaining matches.

Now, Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Kolkata Knight Riders on May 16. Gujarat Lions will also face Kolkata Knight Riders on May 19.

IPL 2016: MI V KXIP

Yesterday’s match was a low-scoring match. The match was played at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bat first. Mumbai start was not good. They lost 2 wickets for 8 runs in the span of 2.5 overs. Mumbai score 21 for 2 in powerplay. This was the lowest powerplay score by team in this season. Nitish Rana hit 3 sixes off Mohit Sharma’s 3rd over. Mumbai was weakly placed at 36 for 2 in 8.4 overs. The 28-run stand between Rohit Sharma and Nitish Rana in 36 balls paced the Mumbai innings. They lost Rohit Sharma in penultimate ball of 9th over of the innings. Delhi Daredevils won the toss and chose to bowl first. Hyderabad start was good. Jayant Yadav gave the ball plenty of air in 3 powerplay overs. Warner hit 2 fours off Jayant Yadav’s 2nd over. Warner scored a fine 46 off 30 balls and destroyed the Delhi bowling. This was the highest score by batsman in this match. The 67-run stand between Warner and Shikhar Dhawan in 53 balls was the highest. They lost Warner in penultimate ball of 19th over of the innings. Warner was bowled by Jayant Yadav in his 2nd over. Rishabh Pant plundered 26 runs from Mustafizur Rahman in 13 balls. The 72-run stand between Samson and Rishabh Pant in 50 balls was the highest and remained unbeaten. This was the 4th wicket partnership for Delhi in this season. Samson hit the winning six and Delhi won comfortably. This was Hyderabad’s 1st loss after 4 consecutive wins.

Gayle was caught by Rohit Sharma off Southee’s 2nd over. They lost 2 wickets for 17 runs in the span of 3.4 overs and it looked Mumbai will make a comeback. Bangalore was comfortably placed at 60 for 2 in 10 overs. The 43-run stand between AB de Villiers and KL Rahul in 39 balls increased the run-rate. They lost AB de Villiers in first ball of 11th over of the innings. AB de Villiers was caught by Rayudu off Krunal Pandya’s 2nd over. KL Rahul twisted his left ankle on 23 runs ans was struck on the glove by McClenaghan’s bouncer on 34 runs. It was a great recovery as he went on to score 34 more runs. Shane Watson hit a six and a four off McClenaghan’s 3rd over. Bangalore was also comfortably placed 98 for 3 in 15.2 overs. Varun Aaron was the most successful bowler for Bangalore when he took 2 wickets. Mumbai won the match by 6 wickets. This was Mumbai’s 6th win in IPL 2016 and move up to top 4 again.

The 63-run stand between Kohli and KL Rahul in 45 balls started very well. This was the second 50+ first-wicket stand for Bangalore in this season. KL Rahul was bowled by Cariappa in his 1st over. They lost 3 wickets for 4 runs in the span of 1.2 overs and Punjab will make a comeback. Bangalore was reduced to 67 for 3 in 8.4 overs. The pair accumulated 46 runs with 2 fours. de Villiers hit a boundary off Axar Patel’s 2nd over. He hit 2 boundaries off Stoinis last over. He finding short third-man with a slice drive. Yesterday’s first match was a high-scoring match. The match was played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and chose to bowl first. Pune start was not good. They lost Khawaja early in 3rd over of the innings. Khawaja was run out by a direct throw by Shane Watson and Stuart Binny. Bangalore fielding was poor. Saurabh Tiwary was dropped by Stuart Binny and Sachin Baby in early stages of the innings when he was on 15 runs. It was a costly miss as he went on to score 37 more runs. Rahane was dropped by Shane Watson in initial stages of the innings when he was on 29 runs. It was also a costly miss as he went on to score 45 more runs. Pune was comfortably placed at 132 for 1 in 13.5 overs. Saurabh Tiwary scored a brisk 52 off 39 balls and attacked the Bangalore bowlers. This was his 2nd fifty of the season and overall 6th fifty of his IPL career. The 106-run stand between Rahane and Saurabh Tiwary in 70 balls was the highest. This was the highest second wicket partnership for Pune in this season and previous highest was 75 runs by same pair against Mumbai Indians at Pune last week. Bangalore start was good. Kohli narrowly escaped being  run-out by a direct throw by George Bailey in early stages of the innings when he was on 4 runs. It was a costly miss as he went on to score 104 more runs. Kohli started with a classy drives off RP Singh’s 2nd over. KL Rahul scored a gutsy 38 off 35 balls and paced the Bangalore innings. The 94-run stand between Kohli and KL Rahul in 67 balls was the highest. This was the highest first wicket partnership for Bangalore in this season and previous highest was 76 runs between Kohli and Shane Watson against Gujarat Lions at Rajkot. KL Rahul was caught by George Bailey off Zampa’s 2nd over. They lost 2 more wickets for 3 runs in the span of 6 balls and  it looked that Pune will make a comeback. But Shane Watson was having different design. He hit 5 fours off Thisara Perera’s 2nd over. He also hit 2 sixes off Rajat Bhatia’s 2nd over. Bangalore was comfortably placed at 143 for 2 in 15.2 overs and it looked Bangalore will win the match. Shane Watson scored a quickfire 36 off 13 balls and smashed the Pune bowling. The 46-run stand between Kohli and Shane Watson in 21 balls increased the run-rate. They lost Shane Watson in 16th over of the innings. Shane Watson was out LBW by RP Singh in his 3rd over. Ravichandran Ashwin conceded 7 runs in 17th over of the innings. Kohli hit 4 sixes and a four off Zampa’s last over. Kohli hit the winning four and Bangalore won comfortably. Kohli scored a brilliant 108 off 58 balls and hammered the Pune bowlers. This was his second century of the season and 4th century by batsman in this season. This was his joint top score of the season along with de Kock’s 108 runs for Delhi Daredevils against Royal Challengers Bangalore at same venue. This was his highest score in his IPL career against his previous highest of 100 runs vs Gujarat Lions at Rajkot earlier this season.  He became the quickest batsman to score 500 runs in an IPL season in just 8 innings. He was the second batsman to score 2 centuries in an IPL season after Chris Gayle did in 2011. This was the highest score by batsman in this match. The 52-run stand between Kohli and Travis Head in 24 balls remained unbeaten. Zampa was the most successful bowler for Pune when he took 2 wickets in 12th over of the innings. Bangalore won the match by 7 wickets. This was Bangalore’s 3rd win in IPL 2016. Both the teams still have to chance to make it to playoffs if they win all remaining matches.

Yesterday’s match was a low-scoring match. The match was played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bowl first. Lions start was not good. Hyderabad bowled consecutive maidens for the first time in IPL history. Lions lost Dwayne Smith early in 3rd over of the innings. Dwayne Smith was caught by Mustafizur Rahman off Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 2nd over. Raina hit a flicked six off Nehra’s 2nd over. Raina scored a quickfire 20 off 10 balls and paced the Lions innings. Raina was caught and bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s in his 3rd over. Brendon McCullum was dropped by Dhawan’s juggling in early stages of the innings when he was on 4 runs. It was not a costly miss as he went on to score only 3 more runs. They lost 3 more wickets for 10 runs in the span of 2.5 overs and Hyderabad made a comeback. Lions was reduced to 34 for 4 in 7.4 overs. Lions was weakly placed at 79 for 4 in 14 overs. The 45-run stand between Aaron Finch and Dwayne Bravo in 39 was the highest and made some recovery. They lost Dwayne Bravo in first ball of 15th over of the innings.
