IPL 2016: SRH V DD

Yesterday’s match was an interesting match. The match was played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. This was Hyderabad’s last home match of the season followed by 3 back-to-back away games.

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and chose to bowl first. Hyderabad start was good. Jayant Yadav gave the ball plenty of air in 3 powerplay overs. Warner hit 2 fours off Jayant Yadav’s 2nd over. Warner scored a fine 46 off 30 balls and destroyed the Delhi bowling. This was the highest score by batsman in this match. The 67-run stand between Warner and Shikhar Dhawan in 53 balls was the highest. They lost Warner in penultimate ball of 19th over of the innings. Warner was bowled by Jayant Yadav in his 2nd over. Amit Mishra introduced the attack in 11th over of the innings. Hyderabad was comfortably placed at 98 for 1 in 12.5 overs and it looked Hyderabad will cross 150-run mark. Shikhar Dhawan scored a classy 34 off 37 balls and paced the Hyderabad innings. The 31-run stand between Shikhar Dhawan and Williamson in 25 balls increased the run-rate. Shikhar Dhawan was caught by Sanju Samson off Amit Mishra’s 2nd over. They lost 3 more wickets for 16 runs in the span of 2.3 overs and Delhi made a comeback. Hyderabad was reduced to 114 for 4 in 15.2 overs. Hyderabad was also comfortably placed at 135 for 4 in 17.4 overs and it also looked Hyderabad will also cross 150-run mark. Williamson was bowled by Chris Morris in his last over. It was a turning point as they lost last 4 wickets for 8 runs in the span of 2.1 overs including 2 wickets in 19th over of the innings and Delhi also made a comeback. Hyderabad was also reduced to 143 for 8 in 19.5 overs. Nehra was caught and bowled by Coulter-Nile in his final over but umpire signaled as no-ball. Hyderabad posted not a competitive total of 146 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Hyderabad scored 48 runs in the last 7 overs. This was the third lowest total for Hyderabad at this ground in this season behind 118 runs against Rising Pune Supergiants and 142 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders. Amit Mishra and Coulter-Nile took 2 wickets each for Delhi.

Delhi start was not good. Mayank Agarwal began brightly with mid-on four. They lost Mayank Agarwal early in first ball of 4th over of the innings. Mayank Agarwal was caught by Yuvraj Singh off Nehra’s 2nd over. de Kock looked in deep control when he was out caught behind and umpire after a prolonged appeal but signaled as not out. de Kock’s helmet fell down the ground as he completed the stroke, the Ultra Edge no bat was allowed. de Kock hit 2 consecutive fours off Nehra’s same over. He cutting the four off Mustafizur Rahman’s 1st over. Delhi closed powerplay at 50 for 1 in 6 overs. Delhi was comfortably placed at 75 for 1 in 9.1 overs and it looked Delhi will win the match. The 55-run stand between de Kock and Karun Nair in 37 balls increased the run-rate. de Kock scored a brilliant 44 off 31 balls and hammered the Hyderabad bowling. This was his fourth highest score in chases in this season. Four of his five highest score in chases in IPL career but all of them are winning. de Kock was caught by Naman Ojha off Henriques’s 1st over. They lost 2 more wickets for 3 runs in the span of 4 balls and it looked Hyderabad will make a comeback. Delhi was reduced to 78 for 3 in 9.5 overs. Rishabh Pant hit a six and four off Mustafizur Rahman’s 2nd over.  Samson hit a boundary off Mustafizur Rahman’s next over. Rishabh Pant scored quickfire 39 off 26 balls and attacked the Hyderabad bowling. Samson scored a gutsy 34 off 26 balls and smashed the Hyderabad bowling. Rishabh Pant plundered 26 runs from Mustafizur Rahman in 13 balls. The 72-run stand between Samson and Rishabh Pant in 50 balls was the highest and remained unbeaten. This was the 4th wicket partnership for Delhi in this season. Samson hit the winning six and Delhi won comfortably. Henriques was the most successful bowler for Hyderabad when he took 2 wickets including in 10th over of the innings.  Delhi won the match by 7 wickets. This was Delhi’s 6th win in IPL 2016. This was Hyderabad’s 1st loss after 4 consecutive wins.

Now, Delhi Daredevils will face Mumbai Indians on May 15. Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Kings XI Punjab also on May 15.

Yesterday’s match was an interesting match. The match was played at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. This was the last match for Delhi at this ground before playoffs.

Rising Pune Supergiants won the toss and chose to bowl first. Delhi start was not good. They lost Rishabh Pant early in 3rd over of the innings. Rishabh Pant was bowled by Dinda. They started boundaries and run-rate is goes past 8 runs per over. The 35-run stand between Samson and Karun Nair in 20 balls increased the run-rate. They lost Samson in last ball of 6th over of the innings. Samson was caught by Ravichandran Ashwin off Boland’s 2nd over. Karun Nair scored a classy 32 off 23 balls and attacked the Pune bowling. They lost Karun Nair in 10th over of the innings. Karun Nair was caught by Thisara Perera off Rajat Bhatia’s 1st over. Delhi was reduced to 65 for 3 in 9.4 overs. Billings hit 2 consecutive sixes off Ravichandran Ashwin’s 3rd over. Delhi was comfortably placed at 110 for 3  in 14.3 overs. The 45-run stand between JP Duminy and Billings in 30 balls was the highest. They lost Billings in 15th over of the innings. Billings was caught by Rahane off Rajat Bhatia’s 2nd over. Carlos Brathwaite hit 2 more sixes off Murugan Ashwin’s 2nd over. Carlos Brathwaite scored a quickfire 20 off 8 balls. Delhi was comfortably placed at 137 for  4 in 16.4 overs.  JP Duminy scored a fine 34 off 32 balls and destroyed the Pune bowling. JP Duminy was run out by a direct throw by Rahane and Dhoni. This was the highest score by batsman in this innings. They lost 3 more wickets for 6 runs in the span of  1.1 overs and Pune made a comeback. Delhi posted a competitive total of 162 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Rajat Bhatia and Boland took 2 wickets each for Pune.

Pune start was good. Usman Khawaja was dropped by Amit Mishra in early stages of the innings when he was on 8 runs. It was a costly miss as he went on to score 22 more runs. He survived run-out chances by a direct throw by Amit Mishra when he was on 9 and 22 runs. Usman Khawaja scored a brisk 30 off 27 balls and smashed Delhi bowling. This was his debut IPL match after the injury of du Plessis. They bowled Jayant Yadav’s 3 overs after reached 50 to end the powerplay. The 59-run stand between Rahane and Usman Khawaja in 50 balls was the highest. They lost Usman Khawaja in 9th over of the innings. Usman Khawaja was stumped by Sanju Samson off Amit Mishra’s 2nd over. Rahane continued the risk-free boundaries off  JP Duminy and Carlos Brathwaite.  Pune was comfortably placed at 104 for 1 in 13.1 overs and it looked Pune will win the match. They lost Dhoni in first ball of 19th over of the innings. Dhoni was also caught by Billings off Imran Tahir’s final over. Thisara Perera hit 2 consecutive sixes off Imran Tahir’s last over. Rahane scored a brilliant 63 off 48 balls and hammered the Delhi bowlers. This was his 5th fifty of the season and overall 17th fifty of his IPL career. This was his second highest score of the season behind 66 runs against Mumbai Indians at Mumbai. This was the highest score by batsman in this match. Rahane hit the winning four and Pune won comfortably. Pune won the match by 7 wickets. This was Pune’s 3rd win in IPL 2016 all away from home. This was Delhi’s 2nd loss in last 3 matches at this ground.

Yesterday’s match was an one-sided match. The match was played at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. This was the last match to be played at this ground.

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and chose to bowl first. Lions start was not good. They lost 3 wickets for 24 runs in the span of 4 overs and Delhi made a comeback. Raina hit a uppercut six off Amit Mishra’s 1st over. Lions was weakly placed at 75 for 3 in 10.5 overs. The 51-run stand between Raina and Dinesh Karthik in 42 balls increased the run-rate. They lost Raina in last ball of 11th over of the innings. Raina was stumped by de Kock off Amit Mishra’s 1st over. Lions was reduced to 75 for 4 in 11 overs. Lions hit a atleast 1 boundary in 13th over of the innings. Lions was comfortably placed at 127 for 4 in 17.2 overs. Dinesh Karthik scored a fine 53 off 43 balls and destroyed the Delhi bowlers. This was the second youngest batsman to score a half-century in IPL history at the age of 18 years and 212 days. This was his highest score in his IPL career but previous highest was 27 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders at Delhi in his previous match. This was the highest score by batsman in this match. The 115-run stand between de Kock and Rishabh Pant in 81 balls was the highest and it look Delhi will win the match. This was the second highest 1st wicket partnership by team in this season behind unbroken 137 runs between Warner and Dhawan for Sunrisers Hyderabad also against Gujarat Lions at same venue. This was also the second highest 1st wicket partnership for Delhi in IPL matches behind 132 runs between Warner and Sehwag against Kings XI Punjab at Delhi in 2011. They lost Rishabh Pant in 14th over of the innings. Rishabh Pant was caught by Dinesh Karthik off Ravindra Jadeja’s 1st over. de Kock scored a classy 46 off 45 balls attacked Lions bowling. This also was the fastest 100 by any team in IPL 2016 in 54 balls. Dwayne Smith scored a fine 53 off 30 balls destroyed the Delhi bowlers. This was his first fifty of the season and overall 6th fifty of his IPL career. The 112-run stand between Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum in 64 balls was the highest. This was the 2nd highest 1st wicket partnership for any team in IPL 2016. They lost Dwayne Smith in 11th over of the innings. Dwayne Smith was out for LBW Imran Tahir in this over. Brendon McCullum scored a brilliant 60 off 36 balls hammered the Delhi bowlers. This was his fastest fifty by Lions in 26 balls. This was his 1st fifty of the season and overall 14th fifty of his IPL career. This was the highest score by any batsman in this innings. They lost 2 more wickets in next over. Brendon McCullum was bowled by Chris Morris. Raina was caught by Karun Nair of Chris Morris bowling. Lions was comfortably placed at 130 for 3 in 14.2 overs. They lost JP Duminy in first ball of 18th over of the innings. JP Duminy was caught and bowled by Dwayne Bravo. Chris Morris scored a quickfire 82 off 32 balls attacked the Lions bowlers. This was 3rd fastest fifty by any batsmen in IPL history in 17 balls. This was his 1st fifty of the season and also overall 1st fifty in his IPL career. This was the highest score by any batsman in this innings. Dwayne Bravo bowled the final ball and Lions won in a nail-biter. This was the 2nd nail-biter of the season. Dhawal Kulkarni was the most successful bowler for Lions when he took 3 wickets including 2 wickets in the 4th over. Lions won the match by 1 run. This was the 6th time the team won the match by 1 run in IPL history. This was Lions 5th win in IPL 2016 and go top of the table.

Yesterday’s first match was an exciting match. The match was played at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl first. Delhi start was not good. They lost de Kock early in last ball of 2nd over of the innings. de Kock was caught by Hardik Pandya of McClenaghan’s bowling.after that Delhi was comfortably placed at 48 for 1 in 6.5 overs. The 37-run stand between Shreyas Iyer and Samson in 30 balls increased the run-rate. They lost 2 more wickets for 12 runs in the span of 1.1 overs. Shreyas Iyer was caught by Rayudu of Hardik Pandya’s bowling and Karun Nair was caught by Southee of Harbhajan Singh’s bowling. Samson hit a boundary of Krunal Pandya’s bowling and it was a nasty collision between Hardik Pandya and Buttler when Buttler’s chest bumped into Hardik  Pandya’s face. Hardik Pandya has been lifted off the field.  Delhi was also comfortably placed at 125 for 3 in 16.2 overs. The 71-run stand between Samson and JP Duminy in 51 balls was the highest. Samson scored a fine 60 off 48 balls and destroyed the Mumbai bowlers. This was his 1st fifty of the season & overall 5th fifty of his IPL career. This was the highest score by batsmen in this innings. They lost Samson in 17th over of the innings. Samson was also caught by Southee of McClenaghan’s bowling. JP Duminy was caught by Parthiv Patel of Bumrah’s bowling in last over but umpire signaled as no-ball for bowling above waistline. The 39-run stand between JP Duminy and Negi in 21 balls remained unbeaten. JP Duminy scored a classy 49 off 31 balls and attacked the Mumbai bowling. Delhi  posted a competitive total of 164 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. McClenaghan was the most successful bowler for Mumbai when he took 2 wickets. He earned the Purple Cap for taking 9 wickets which are highest in this season till now.

Mumbai also started badly. They lost Parthiv Patel early in 2nd over of the innings. Parthiv Patel was run out by a throw of Shreyas Iyer & de Kock. JP Duminy dropped Rayudu in early stages of Mumbai innings when he was on 17 runs. It was not a costly miss as he could  score only 8 more runs. Mumbai was comfortably placed at 62 for 1 in 8.2 overs. The 53-run stand between Rohit Sharma and  Rayudu in 41 balls was the highest. Rayudu was bowled by Amit Mishra.  Mumbai was also comfortably placed at 103 for 2 in 12.3 overs and it looked Mumbai will win comfortably. The 41-run stand between Rohit Sharma & Krunal Pandya in 25 balls increased the run-rate. Krunal Pandya’s run out was the turning point as Krunal Pandya scored a quickfire 36 off 17 balls and he was taking match away from Delhi. after this Delhi choked Mumbai for runs. Mumbai  lost Jos Buttler in next over. Mumbai was reduced to 110 for 4 in 14.3 overs. Mumbai was weakly placed at 144 for 4 in 18.5 overs. The 34-run stand between Rohit Sharma & Pollard in 27 balls revived some hope but they lost last 3 wickets for 8 runs in the span of 0.5 overs & Delhi made a comeback. Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 65 off 48 balls and  hammered the Delhi bowlers. This was his 3rd fifty of the season & overall 27th fifty of his IPL career. This was the highest score by batsmen in this innings. He was run out by a throw of Negi, Chris Morris & de Kock . Unfortunately  it was second nasty collision of the day between Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma. when Morris fumbles and there is a mid-pitch collision. Harbhajan Singh was out LBW of Chris Morris in the last over. Delhi won in a thrilling finish. Morris conceded only  10 runs for 2 wickets including the run-out in final over of the innings. Amit Mishra was the most successful bowler for Delhi when he took 2 wickets. Delhi won the match by 10 runs. This was the first closer victory in terms of runs by a team in this season. This was Delhi’s 3rd win in IPL 2016.

Now, Delhi Daredevils will face Gujarat Lions on April 27. Mumbai Indians will also take on Kings XI Punjab on April 25.

Yesterday’s second match was an exciting match. The match was played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and chose to bowl first. Bangalore was not having a good note. This was his 2nd fifty of the season & overall 15th fifty of his IPL career. Bangalore was superbly placed at 170 for 2 in 16.1 overs. Watson scored a gigantic 33 off 19 balls attacked the Delhi bowlers. The 63-run stand between Kohli & Watson in 30 balls was huge. The lost 3 wickets for 7 runs in the span of 2 overs and Delhi will make a comeback. Kohli scored a fine 79 off 48 balls destroyed the Delhi bowlers. This was his 2nd fifty of the season & overall 18th fifty of his career. This was the highest score in this innings. Bangalore posted a huge total of 191 for 5 in 20 overs. This was the 4th highest total at this ground. Mohammad Shami was the most successful bowler when he took 2 wickets since his return.

Delhi was also not having a good note. They lost Iyer early in 1st over of the innings. The 39-run stand between de Kock and Samson in 28 balls. They lost Samson in 6th over of the innings.  Nair scored a brilliant 54 off 42 balls plundered against Bangalore bowling. This was his 1st fifty of the season & overall 4th fifty of his IPL career. Delhi was comfortably placed 184 for 2 in 18.1 overs. de Kock scored a huge 108 off 51 balls hammered the Bangalore bowlers. This was his first century of the season & also overall 1st century of his IPL career. This was first centurion of the season by player. This was the highest score in this innings. This was also the highest score of his IPL career his previous best was 69 runs also against Royal Challengers Bangalore at same ground last year. The 134-run stand between de Kock & Nair in 76 balls was the highest. This was the highest 3rd wicket partnership by team in IPL history. They lost de Kock in 19th over of the innings. Duminy hit the winning run & Delhi won comfortably. This was Delhi’s 2nd win in IPL 2016. This was Delhi’s 1st win against Bangalore since April 2010. Delhi won the match by 7 wickets.

Now, Delhi Daredevils will take on Mumbai Indians on April 23. Royal Challengers Bangalore will also face Mumbai Indians on April 20.

This was the highest partnership in Chennai Super Kings innings. du Plessis scored a brisk 29 off 23 balls & tried to attack the Delhi bowlers. This was the highest score in Chennai Super Kings innings. This was du Plessis’ 2nd highest score in IPL 2015 till yesterday behind 33 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Hyderabad on May 2. They lost last 3 wickets for 27 runs in the span of 3 overs. Zaheer Khan bowled a lethal spell & took 2 crucial wickets in the innings. They started slow in first 10 overs & picked up speed in later overs. Chennai Super Kings innings final total was 119 for 6 in 20 overs. This was lowest total by a team at this ground in IPL beating 139 runs for Pune Warriors India also against Delhi Daredevils in 2013.

Delhi Daredevils innings had a solid start. They lost 2 early wickets de Kock & Duminy  in quick succession. With the departure of two Delhi Daredevils batsmen Delhi Daredevils innings was reduced to 24 for 2 in 4.1 overs. Shreyas Iyer score a huge 70 off 49 balls & crushed the Chennai bowling attack. This was the highest score in Delhi Daredevils innings. This was Iyer’s 2nd highest of his IPL career behind 83 runs against Mumbai Indians at Delhi this season. Mohit Sharma dropped a steepler to Shreyas Iyer at the middle stages of Delhi Daredevils innings when Iyer was on 34 runs. It was a costly miss as Iyer went on to score 70 runs. Yuvraj Singh scored a fine 32 off 28 balls & tried to hammer the Chennai bowlers. Delhi Daredevils innings was comfortably placed 93 for 2 in 13.1 overs. The 69 run-stand between Shreyas Iyer & Yuvraj Singh in 55 balls tried to increase the run-rate & Delhi won comfortably. This was the highest partnership in Delhi Daredevils innings. They lost 2 wickets Yuvraj Singh & Albie Morkel also in quick succession. Pandey took 2 wickets for 27 runs. They started quick in first 10 overs & also quick in later overs. Delhi Daredevils innings final total was 120 for 4 in 16.4 overs. Shreyas Iyer hit the winning run. Delhi won the match by 6 wickets after missed by a whisker in the last match. This was Delhi’s 5th win in IPL 2015.

Now, Delhi Daredevils will face Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on 17th May. Chennai Super Kings will face Kings XI Punjab at PCA Stadium on 16th May.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and chose to bat first. Kolkata Knight Riders innings had a good start. Tiwary & Yuvraj dropped Uthappa at the middle stages of Kolkata Knight Riders innings when Uthappa was on 21 & 25 runs. It was not a costly miss as Uthappa could score only 32 runs. The 38 run-stand between Uthappa & Gambhir in 27 balls tried to pace the Kolkata Knight Riders innings. This was the highest partnership in Kolkata Knight Riders innings. They lost 3 wickets for 44 runs in the span of 7.2 overs. Uthappa scored a brisk 32 off 31 balls & tried to crush the Delhi bowling attack. This was Uthappa’s 2nd highest score in IPL 2015 till yesterday behind 60 runs against Chennai Super Kings at Kolkata on April 30. The 63 run-stand between Manoj Tiwary & Shreyas Iyer in 59 balls tried to increase the run-rate. This was the highest partnership in Delhi Daredevils innings. Shreyas Iyer scored a brilliant 40 off 35 balls & tried to attack the Kolkata bowlers. This was Shreyas Iyer’s equal 2nd highest score of his IPL career behind 83 runs against Mumbai Indians at Delhi & 40 runs against Rajasthan Royals also at Delhi this season. They lost 5 wickets for 48 runs in the span of 5.5 overs & the situation also changed after that. With the departure of top five Delhi Daredevils batsmen Delhi Daredevils innings was reduced to 111 for 5 in 15.3 overs. The 32 run-stand between Mathews & Saurabh Tiwary in 21 balls tried to pace the Delhi Daredevils innings fightback. They lost Mathews in 19th over of the innings. They started not very quick in first 10 overs & picked up speed in later overs. Piyush Chawla took 4 wickets for 32 run & Kolkata won comfortably. Delhi Daredevils innings final total was 158 for 6 in 20 overs. Umesh Yadav bowled the final ball. Kolkata won the match by 13 runs. This was Kolkata’s 2nd consecutive win & happened 2nd time in IPL 2015.

Now, Kolkata Knight Riders will face Kings XI Punjab also at Eden Gardens on 9th May. Delhi Daredevils will face Sunrisers Hyderabad at Shaheed Veer Narayan Stadium also on 9th May.

At another place Pakistan first innings total was 557 for 8 declared. Azhar Ali went on to score 226 runs. This was Azhar Ali’s first double century in Test cricket. Younis Khan also went on to score 148 runs. Younis Khan’s purple patch continues since the series against Australia last year.  Asad Shafiq went on to score 107 runs. This was three Pakistan batsmen to score centuries in the innings & happened 4th time in Test history. The double century-stand between Younis Khan & Azhar Ali  was the highest. This was two double century-partnerships in Pakistan innings & happened first time in Test history. Bangladesh first innings total was 107 for 5. Pakistan pace duo took 2 wickets each in the innings.

The 34 run-stand between Mayank Agarwal & Duminy in 27 balls was much responsible for Delhi Daredevils innings. This was the highest partnership in Delhi Daredevils innings. They lost 3 wickets for 3 runs in the span of 1.2 overs & changed the situation. The 28 run-stand between Mayank Agarwal & Kedar Jadhav in 34 balls was not crucial. Kedar Jadhav scored a fine 33 off 29 balls & tried to batter the Bangalore bowlers. This was the highest score in Delhi Daredevils innings. This was Jadhav’s 2nd highest score of his IPL career behind 60 runs also against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Bangalore in 2010. They lost last 6 wickets for 28 runs in the span of 6.2 overs & also changed the situation. They started slow in first 10 overs & slow again in later overs. Mitchell Starc took 3 wickets for 22 runs. This was Starc’s best bowling performance of his IPL career beating 3 wickets for 29 runs against Chennai Super Kings at Ranchi last year. Delhi Daredevils innings bowled out at 95 runs in 18.2 overs. This was joint lowest total by a team in IPL 2015 till yesterday as similar to 95 runs for Kings XI Punjab against Chennai Super Kings at Chennai on Saturday.

Royal Challengers Bangalore innings had a very good start. Gayle scored a brisk 62 off 40 balls & attacked the Delhi bowlers. This was the highest score in Royal Challengers Bangalore innings. This was Gayle’s 2nd highest score in IPL 2015 behind 96 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders at Kolkata on April 11. Virat Kohli scored a huge 35 off 23 balls & tried to hammer the Delhi bowlers. The unbroken 99 run-stand between Gayle & Kohli in 63 balls increased the run-rate. This was the highest partnership in Royal Challengers Bangalore innings. This was Bangalore’s highest partnership for 1st wicket in IPL 2015 till yesterday beating 50 runs against Rajasthan Royals at Ahmedabad on Friday. They started very quick in first 6 overs & also very quick in later overs. Delhi Daredevils bowlers sprayed all over the field throughout the innings. Royal Challengers Bangalore innings final total was 99 for 0 in 10.3 overs. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 10 wickets. This was the only team to won by 10 wickets twice in IPL history. This was Bangalore’s 3rd consecutive away win in IPL 2015.

Now, Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Rajasthan Royals at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on 29th April. Delhi Daredevils will face Kings XI Punjab also at Feroz Shah Kotla on 1st May.
