Chennai Super Kings won the toss and chose to bowl first. Although they lost Parthiv Patel early in 1st over of the innings, Mumbai Indians innings had a bad start. Simmons scored a brisk 68 off 45 balls & crushed the Chennai bowling attack. This was the highest score in Mumbai Indians innings. This was Simmons’ 2nd highest score in IPL 2015 behind 71 runs against Kings XI Punjab at Mohali on May 3. Negi dropped Simmons at the middle stages of Mumbai Indians innings when Simmons was on 50 runs. It was a bit costly miss as Simmons went on to score 68 runs. Rohit Sharma scored a huge 50 off 26 balls & destroyed the Chennai bowlers. This was Rohit’s 2nd highest score at this ground in IPL 2015 behind 98 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 8. Mumbai Indians innings was comfortably placed 120 for 1 in 11.5 overs. The 119 run-stand between Simmons & Rohit in 67 balls steadied the Mumbai Indians innings. This was the highest partnership in Mumbai Indians innings. This was 3rd highest partnership for any wicket in IPL final behind 159 runs between Vijay & Michael Hussey  for Chennai Super Kings against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chennai in 2011  & 129 runs between Saha & Bailey for Kings XI Punjab against Kolkata Knight Riders at Bangalore last year. They lost 2 wickets Rohit Sharma & Simmons in quick succession. Pollard scored a quickfire 36 off 18 balls & hammered the Chennai bowlers. Rayudu scored a brilliant 36 off 24 balls & attacked the Chennai bowlers. Smith dropped Rayudu at the final stages of Mumbai Indians innings when Rayudu was on 28 runs. It was not a costly miss as Rayudu could score only 36 runs. The 71 run-stand between Pollard & Rayudu in 40 balls paced the Mumbai Indians innings. They lost 2 wickets Pollard & Pandya again in quick succession. They started very quick in first 10 overs & also very quick in later overs. Chennai Super Kings bowlers sprayed all over the field throughout the innings. Mumbai Indians innings final total was 202 for 5 in 20 overs. This was 2nd highest total by a team in IPL final behimd 205 runs for Chennai Super Kings against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chennai in 2011.

Although they lost Mike Hussey early in 5th over of the innings, Chennai Super Kings innings had a solid start. Dwayne Smith scored a fine 57 off 48 balls & tried to squeeze the Mumbai bowlers. This was the highest score in Chennai Super Kings innings. Chennai Super Kings innings was comfortably placed at 88 for 1 in 11.4 overs. The 66 run-stand between Smith & Raina in 43 balls increased the run-rate. This was the highest partnership in Chennai Super Kings innings. They lost last 7 wickets for 49 runs in the span of 6.4 overs & changed the situation. They started not very quick in first 10 overs & picked up speed in later overs. McClenaghan took 3 wickets for 25 runs & Mumbai won comfortably. Chennai Super Kings innings final total was 161 for 8 in 20 overs. Vinay Kumar bowled the final ball. Mumbai won the match by 41 runs.

With this win Mumbai Indians won the 2nd IPL crown. This was 3rd team to win the IPL twice after Chennai Super Kings & Kolkata Knight Riders.

At another place Zimbabwe innings total was 175 for 3 in 20 overs. Williams went on to score 58 runs. Pakistan innings final total was 176 for 8 in 19.4 overs. Mukhtar Ahmed scored his 2nd consecutive 50. Pakistan won the match by 2 wickets. Pakistan won the series with 2-0 margin.

Royal Challengers Bangalore innings was comfortably placed at 159 for 2 in 18.3 overs. The 113 run-stand between de Villiers & Mandeep Singh in 67 balls steadied the Royal Challengers Bangalore innings. This was the highest partnership in Royal Challengers Bangalore innings. This was 2nd highest 3rd wicket stand for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL history behind 120 runs between Gayle & de Villiers against Pune Warriors India at Bengaluru in 2013. They lost 2 wickets de Villiers & Karthik again in quick succession. Mandeep Singh scored a huge 54 off 34 balls & attacked the Rajasthan bowlers. This was Mandeep’s highest score in IPL 2015 till yesterday beating 45 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders at Bengaluru on May 2. They started slow in first 10 overs & picked up speed in later overs. Rajasthan Royals bowlers sprayed all over the field throughout the innings. Royal Challengers Bangalore innings final total was 180 for 4 in 20 overs. This was Bangalore’s highest total at this ground beating 175 runs against Pune Warriors India in 2013.

Rajasthan Royals innings had a bad start. They lost 3 early wickets for 55 runs in the span of 8.1 overs. With the departure of three Rajasthan batsmen Rajasthan Royals innings was reduced to 55 for 3 in 8.1 overs. Rahane scored a fine 42 off 39 balls & tried to hammer the Bangalore bowlers. This was the highest score in Rajasthan Royals innings. Rajasthan Royals innings was steady at 79 for 3 in 12 overs. The 24 run-stand between Rahane & Karun in 24 balls was much responsible for Rajasthan Royals innings. This was the highest partnership in Rajasthan Royals innings. With this win, Bangalore had another chance to make it to the final. Now, Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Chennai Super Kings at JSCA Stadium on 22 May.

At another place England innings was reduced to 30 for 4. The 176 run-stand between Root & Stokes recovered very well. Root went on to score 90 runs & Stokes also went on to score 85 runs. Matt Henry took 3 wickets on debut. England first innings total at 247 for 7 at the end of first day.

This was three Pakistan batsmen to score centuries in the innings & happened 4th time in Test history. The double century-stand between Younis Khan & Azhar Ali  was the highest. This was two double century-partnerships in Pakistan innings & happened first time in Test history. Bangladesh first innings total was 107 for 5. Pakistan pace duo took 2 wickets each in the innings.

IPL 2015: SRH V CSK

Chennai Super Kings innings won the toss and chose to bowl first. Sunrisers Hyderabad innings had a very good start. Sunrisers Hyderabad innings was comfortably placed at 86 for 0 in 8 overs. The 86 run-stand between Warner & Dhawan in 49 balls increased the run-rate. This was the highest partnership in Sunrisers Hyderabad innings. This was Hyderabad’s 2nd highest 1st wicket partnership at this ground in IPL behind 100 runs by same pair against Royal Challengers Bangalore last year. Warner scored a brisk 61 off 28 balls & crushed  Chennai bowlers. This was the highest score in Sunrisers innings. This made Warner the leading run scorer in IPL 2015. This was Warner’s 2nd highest score against Chennai Super Kings in IPL behind 90 runs also for Sunrisers Hyderabad at Ranchi last year. Dhawan scored a huge 37 off 32 balls & tried to pace the innings. They lost 3 wickets for 45 runs in the span of 5 overs. Sunrisers Hyderabad innings was steady at 156 for 3 in 16 overs. The 25 run-stand between Morgan & Naman Ojha in 19 balls was not crucial. Morgan scored a quickfire 32 off 27 balls & tried to attack the Chennai bowlers. McCullum dropped Morgan at the final stages of Sunrisers Hyderabad innings when Morgan was on 30 runs. It was not a costly miss as Morgan could score only 32 runs. This was Hyderabad’s 2nd highest total at this ground in IPL behind 205 runs against Kings XI Punjab in 2014.

Although they lost McCullum early in 2nd over of the innings, Chennai Super Kings innings had a solid start. The 34 run-stand between Dwayne Smith & Raina in 20 balls was important. They lost 2 wickets Dwayne Smith & Raina in quick succession. Praveen Kumar dropped & missed a run-out of du Plessis at the middle stages of Chennai Super Kings innings when du Plessis was on 18 runs. This was the highest partnership in Chennai Super Kings innings. They lost last 3 wickets for 27 runs in the span of 4 overs & also the situation changed after that. They started quick in first 10 overs & also quick in later overs. Henriques took 2 wickets for 20 runs & Hyderabad won comfortably. Chennai Super Kings innings final total was 170 for 6 in 20 overs. Sorry for not writing day before yesterday. Yesterday’s second match was an exciting match. The match was played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bowl first. Mumbai Indians innings had a good start. Samson dropped Simmons at the early stages of Mumbai Indians innings when Simmons was on 0 runs. It was a costly miss as Simmons went on to score 38 runs. The 43 run-stand between Simmons & Parthiv Patel in 29 balls tried to pace the Rajasthan bowlers. They lost Parthiv Patel early in 5th over of the innings. Simmons scored a brisk 38 off 31 balls & tried to batter the Rajasthan bowlers. Mumbai Indians innings was quickly at 73 for 1 in 9 overs. The 30 run-stand between Simmons & Chand in 26 balls was not very important. They lost 2 wickets Simmons & Chand in quick succession. The 36 run-stand between Rohit Sharma & Rayudu in 25 balls was much responsible for Mumbai Indians innings. They lost Rohit Sharma in 15th over of the innings. Rajasthan Royals innings also had a good start. Suchith dropped Rahane at the very early stages of Rajasthan Royals innings when Rahane was on 6 runs. It was a bit costly miss as Rahane went on to score 16 runs. The 30 run-stand between Rahane & Watson in 19 balls was not crucial. They lost Rahane early in 4th over of the innings. Rajasthan Royals innings was boom boom at 71 for 1 in 8 overs. The 41 run-stand between Watson & Samson in 30 balls tried to crush Mumbai bowlers. They  lost Watson in 9th over of the innings. Parthiv appealed for a caught behind for Samson in Rajasthan Royals innings but the appeal was turned down & Samson survived. At another front Bangladesh gave a solid reply to Pakistan’s mammoth total of 628 runs. Tamim Iqbal & Imrul Kayes created a 300+ run opening pair partnership which is a record for Bangladesh. Iqbal went on to score 206 runs. The second Bangladeshi to score a double-ton in Test history after Mohammad Ashraful. Bangladesh drew the test against Pakistan  for the first time in Test history. Bravo Bangladesh.
