IPL 2016: RPS V MI

Sorry for not writing update for last match. Yesterday’s second match was an interesting match. The match was played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. This was the last match to be played in drought-hit state of Maharashtra this season.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl first. Pune start was not good. They lost Rahane early in penultimate ball of 2nd over of the innings. Rahane was caught by Krunal Pandya off McClenaghan’s 1st over. Saurabh Tiwary was dropped by Bumrah in early stages of the innings when he was on 4 runs. It was a costly miss as he went on to score 53 more runs. He raced from 6 off 11 to 34 off 22 balls. Bumrah struck off his second ball to Steven Smith as he attempted to dab down just like oil running out.  Pune was comfortably placed at 92 for 1 in 9.1 overs. Steven Smith scored a classy 45 off 23 balls and attacked Mumbai bowling in his last game of the season. The 84-run stand between Saurabh Tiwary and Steven Smith in 45 balls was the highest. Steven Smith was caught by Parthiv Patel off Bumrah’s 2nd over. They lost 2 more wickets for 13 runs in the span of 3 overs and Mumbai made a comeback. Pune was comfortably placed at 138 for 3 in 17.2 overs. Saurabh Tiwary scored a fine 57 off 45 balls and destroyed the Mumbai bowlers. This was his 1st fifty of the season and overall 4th fifty of his IPL career. This was his 1st IPL fifty since 2013. This was the highest score by batsman in this innings. The 33-run stand between Saurabh Tiwary and Dhoni in 32 balls run-rate was kept going. Saurabh Tiwary was caught by Hardik Pandya off Bumrah’s 3rd over. They lost last 2 wickets for 11 runs in the span of 2 overs. Pune scored a 3 fours and a six in last 11 overs. Pune posted a competitive total of 159 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Bumrah was the most successful bowler for Mumbai when he took 3 wickets.

Mumbai start was average. Parthiv Patel hit 3 consecutive fours off Dinda’s 2nd over. The 39-run stand between Rohit Sharma and Parthiv Patel in 24 balls kept placed. They lost Parthiv Patel in last ball of 4th over of the innings. Parthiv Patel was caught by Dhoni of Dinda’s 2nd over.  Rayudu hit a long-on six off Ravichandran Ashwin’s 1st over. Mumbai was comfortably placed at 91 for 1 in 11.3 overs and it looked Mumbai will win the match. The 52-run stand between Rohit Sharma and Rayudu in 46 balls increased the run-rate. They lost Rayudu in 12th over of the innings. Rayudu was caught by Rahane off Ravichandran Ashwin’s 3rd over. When needed 67 off 48 balls Buttler comes to the crease. Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 85 off 60 balls and hammered the Pune bowlers. This was his 5th fifty of the season and overall 26th fifty of his IPL career. He was fourth most fifties by batsman in IPL behind Gambhir 29 fifties , Warner 28 fifties and Raina 27 fifties. This was his highest score of the season but previous highest was 84 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders at Kolkata. This was his 5th consecutive fifties in chases this season. This was the highest score by batsman in this match. The 70-run stand between Rohit Sharma and Buttler in 41 balls was the highest and remained unbeaten. Buttler scored a quickfire 27 off 17 balls smashed Pune bowling. This was the highest 3rd wicket partnership for Mumbai in this season. Rohit Sharma hit the winning six and Mumbai won comfortably. Dinda and Ravichandran Ashwin took 1 wicket each for Pune. This was the second highest successful chase by team at this ground in IPL matches behind 162 runs for Kolkata Knight Riders also against Rising Pune Supergiants earlier this season. Mumbai won the match by 8 wickets. This was Mumbai’s 5th win in IPL 2016. Pune finished at home ground with no wins this season.

Now, Mumbai Indians will face Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 8. Rising Pune Supergiants will take on Delhi Daredevils on May 5.

Yesterday’s match was a thrilling match. The match was played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.

Gujarat Lions won the toss and chose to bowl first. Pune start was not good. They lost Saurabh Tiwary in 3rd over of the innings. Saurabh Tiwary was run out by a direct throw by Raina. Steven Smith hit the six by Shivil Kaushik’s bowling when umpire signaled as no-ball in 10th over of the innings. Pune was comfortably placed at 124 for 1 in 13.3 overs. Rahane scored a fine 53 off 45 balls destroyed the Lions bowlers. This was his 4th fifty of the season and overall 14th fifty of his IPL career. The 111-run stand between Rahane and Steven Smith in 67 balls was the highest. They lost Rahane in 14th over of the innings. Rahane was run out by a direct throw by Dwayne Bravo. Pune was also comfortably placed at 188 for 2 in 19.2 overs. Steven Smith scored a brilliant 101 off 54 balls hammered the Lions bowlers. This was his 1st hundred of the season and overall first hundred of his IPL career. This was the 3rd century by batsman in this season. This was the 2nd highest score of the season by batsman in IPL 2016 behind de Kock 108 runs for Delhi Daredevils against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Bangalore 2 weeks ago. This was the highest score in his IPL career but his previous best was  79 runs for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians at Ahmedabad last year. This was the highest score by batsman in this innings. The 64-run stand between Steven Smith and Dhoni in 33 balls increased the run-rate. They lost Steven Smith in last over of the innings. Steven Smith was bowled by Dwayne Bravo. Dhoni scored a classy 30 off 18 against Lions bowling. Pune posted a competitive total of 195 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. This was the highest total by team at this ground in IPL matches but previous highest was 185 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Rising Pune Supergiants last week. Dwayne Bravo was the most successful bowler for Lions when he took a wicket of Steven Smith.

Lions start was good. The 93-run stand between Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum in 49 balls was the highest. Brendon McCullum scored a quickfire 43 off 22 balls shattered against Pune bowling. They lost Brendon McCullum in first ball of 9th over of the innings. Brendon McCullum was caught by Albie Morkel of Rajat Bhatia’s bowling. Dwayne Smith scored a gigantic 63 off 37 balls attacked the Pune bowlers. This was his 2nd fifty of the season and overall 9th fifty of his IPL career. This was the highest score by any batsman in this innings.They lost Dwayne Smith in penultimate ball of 11th over of the innings. Dwayne Smith was bowled by Thisara Perera. Lions was comfortably placed at 166 for 2 in 16.1 overs and it looked Lions will win the match. Dinesh Karthik scored 33 off 20 balls paced against Pune bowling. The 51-run stand between Raina and Dinesh Karthik in 33 balls increased the run-rate. They lost Dinesh Karthik in 17th over of the innings. Dinesh Karthik was caught by Rahane of Dinda’s 3rd over. It was a turning point as they lost 13 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the span of 1.3 overs and it looked Pune will win the match and made a comeback. They lost 2 consecutive wickets in 19th over of the innings. They also lost  2 consecutive wickets in next and last over. Raina scored 34 off 28 balls. Raina was bowled by Thisara Perera’s last over. Thisara Perera conceded 9 runs for 2 wickets in last over including a run-out. Birthday boy Faulkner hit the winning run and Lions won in a nail-biter. Dinda and Thisara Perera took 2 wickets each for Pune. Lions won the match by 3 wickets in last-ball finish. This was Lions 6th win in IPL 2016. This was the highest successful chase by team in IPL 2016 but previous highest was 192 runs for Delhi Daredevils against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Bangalore fortnight ago.

Now, Gujarat Lions will take on Kings XI Punjab on May 1. Rising Pune Supergiants will also face Mumbai Indians also on May 1.

Sorry for not writing update of 2 matches. Yesterday’s second match was a thrilling match. The match was played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and chose to bowl first. Pune start was not good. They lost du Plessis early in last ball of 4th over of the innings. du Plessis was bowled by Shakib Al Hasan. Pune was comfortably placed at 80 for 1 in 12.1 overs. The 56-run stand between Rahane & Steven Smith in 50 balls was the highest. Steven Smith scored 31 off 28 balls against Kolkata bowling. Steven Smith was run out by a throw of Rajagopal Sathish. They lost 2 more wickets for 19 runs in the span of 2.4 overs. Thisara Perera was bowled by Rajagopal Sathish.  Rahane scored a fine 67 off 52 balls destroyed the Kolkata bowlers. This was his 3rd fifty of the season and overall 18th fifty of his IPL career. This was the highest score by batsman in this innings. Rahane was caught and bowled by Narine. They lost Albie Morkel in 19th over of the innings. Albie Morkel was bowled by Umesh Yadav. Dhoni’s hit the team’s first six in 70 balls. Pune scored 17 runs in the last over including 2 sixes. The 27-run stand between Dhoni and Rajat Bhatia in 9 balls remained unbeaten. Pune posted a competitive total of 160 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Shakib Al Hasan, Umesh Yadav, Rajagopal Sathish and Narine for Kolkata when took one wicket each.

Kolkata start was a worst. They lost Uthappa early in very first ball of the innings. Uthappa was out lbw for Albie Morkel in 1st over of the innings. Kolkata was comfortably placed at 31 for 1 in 2.4 overs. The 31-run stand between Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav in 16 balls increased the run-rate. Gambhir was run out by a direct throw by Saurabh Tiway and Dhoni. They lost 2 more wickets for 29 runs in the span of 3.5 overs. Kolkata was reduced to 60 for 3 in 6.3 overs. Kolkata was also comfortably placed at 111 for 3 in 14.1 overs and it looked Kolkata will win the match. Yusuf Pathan scored a quickfire 36 off 27 balls attacked against Pune bowling. They lost Yusuf Pathan in 15th over of the innings. Yusuf Pathan was out lbw of Rajat Bhatia. They lost Suryakumar Yadav in next over. Suryakumar Yadav scored a brilliant 60 off 49 balls hammered the Pune bowlers. This was his overall first fifty of his IPL career and the season. This was his highest score his previous best was 46 runs against Mumbai Indians at Kolkata last year. This was the highest score by batsman in this innings. It was a turning point as they lost  5 wickets for 45 runs in the span of 5.1 overs & it looked Pune will win the match and made a comeback. Chawla was caught by Steven Smith by Thisara Perera’s final over when 6 needed from 4 balls. Kolkata was also reduced to 156 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 19.2 overs. Umesh Yadav hit the winning six and Kolkata won in a thriller. It was the second thriller of the season. Rajat Bhatia, Thisara Perera and Albie Morkel of Pune when took 2 wickets each. Kolkata won the match by 2 wickets. This was 2nd smallest victory by team in terms of wickets. This was Kolkata’s 4th win in IPL 2016.

Now, Kolkata Knight Riders will face Mumbai Indians on April 28. Rising Pune Supergiants will also take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 26.

IPL 2016: RPS V RCB

Yesterday’s match was an one-sided match. The match was played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.

Rising Pune Supergiants won the toss and chose to bowl first. Bangalore start was not good. They lost KL Rahul early in 4th over of the innings. K L Rahul  was caught by Ishant Sharma in Thisara Perera’s 2nd over. Ravichandran Ashwin bowled a wide ball to Kohli  which beat the wicketkeeper and resulted in 5 extra runs. He bowled 2 consecutive wides. Bhatia dropped Kohli in later stages for Bangalore innings when he was on 53 runs. It was a costly miss as he went on to score 27 more runs. Bangalore was comfortably placed at 182 for 1 in 19.2 overs. The 155-run stand between Kohli and de Villiers in 95 balls was the highest. This was the 3rd century stand of the season & overall 5th century stand in their IPL career. This was the second highest 2nd wicket stand of the season and highest is still held by them for 157 runs also for Bangalore against Hyderabad at Bengaluru on April 12. Kohli scored  80 off 63 balls and  destroyed the Pune bowlers. This was his 3rd fifty of the season & overall 21st fifty of his IPL career. de Villiers scored a brutal 83 off 46 balls  and hammered the Pune bowlers all around the park. This was his 3rd fifty of the season & overall 20th fifty of his IPL career. This was the highest score by a batsman in this innings. They lost both in 2  consecutive balls in last over. Bangalore  posted a competitive total of 185 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Thisara Perera was the most successful bowler for Pune when he took 3 wickets including 2 in the last over of the innings. He conceded 12 runs & took 2 wickets in last over. This was the second highest total at this ground in IPL matches behind 187 runs also for Bangalore against Pune Warriors in 2013.

Pune’s started very badly. They lost du Plessis early in 2nd over of the innings. du Plessis was caught by Harshal Patel of Richardson’s bowling. Kevin Pietersen hurt himself the very first ball he faced and went hobbling out of the field.  After Pietersen injury, They lost Steven Smith in 3rd over of the innings. Steven Smith was run out  by a direct throw by Kohli.  Pune was comfortably placed 109 for 2 in 14.3 overs & it looked Pune will win the match. The 91-run stand between Rahane and Dhoni in 73 balls was the highest. Rahane scored a fine 60 off 46 balls and attacked the Bangalore bowlers. This was his 2nd fifty of the season & overall 16th fifty of his IPL career. This was the highest score in this innings. Shamsi took the first wicket of his IPL career when KL Rahul stumped  Rahane in 15th over of the innings. This was the turning point as Pune lost 2 more wickets for 11 runs in the span of 1.2 overs. Dhoni was caught by de Villiers of Harshal Patel’s bowling in penultimate ball of the 16th over. Dhoni scored a brilliant 41 off 38 balls and shattered the Bangalore bowling. Pune was  weakly placed at 120 for 4 in 18.2 overs. The 44-run stand between Thisara Perera and Bhatia in 16 balls has increased the run-rate. Thisara Perera scored a quickfire 34 off 13 balls and crushed the Bangalore bowling. They lost last 4 wickets for 5 runs in the span of 1.2 overs & Bangalore made a comeback. Watson took 2 wickets in penultimate over of the innings to dismiss Thisara Perera and Ashwin. Richardson bowled the last over conceding only 7 runs & Bangalore won comfortably. He was the most successful bowler for Bangalore when he took 3 wickets including 2 in the last over i.e.  Bhatia & Murugan Ashwin. Bangalore won the match by 13 runs. This was Bangalore’s 2nd win in IPL 2016.

Now, Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Gujarat Lions on April 24. Rising Pune Supergiants will also face Kolkata Knight Riders also on April 24.
